How to make medu vada

Easy Medu Vada Recipe:

Medu vada is a south Indian recipe. This is a delicious dish and it can be eaten with coconut chutney or sambar but mostly people like to eat with sambar. Medu vada is made from urad dal and this dal is very important for our health such as it protects our heart, Improves digestion, Boost energy, Reduces pain and inflammation, Good for skin and hair.

Ingredients:

For medu vada

  • 2 cup urad dal
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1-2 green chili
  • 1 tbsp ginger
  • coriander leaves
  • curry leaves
  •  1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp crushed black peppercorns
  • Salt

Procedure:

  1. Wash 2 cup urad dal.
  2. Soak washed urad dal in a bowl for 2 hours if it is summer otherwise soak for 5 hours or you can soak them overnight.
  3. Remove water from soaked urad dal and take some portion of soaked dal & grind it with the help of a grinder.
  4. Make a soft batter and it become fluffy.
  5. Now add 1/3 cup chopped onion, 1 tbsp green chili, 1 tbsp ginger, Some green coriander leaves, 3-4 chopped curry leaves, 1 tbsp cumin seeds, 1 tbsp crushed black peppercorns and salt for taste.
  6. Mix all the ingredients well with the help of a spoon.
  7. Take a bowl full of water. Apply this water on the palm of both the hands.
  8. Now take a small portion of batter and rotate it in circular and make a small ball. 
  9. Put it on palm and make a hole at the center with the help of thumb.
  10. Put a pan on medium heat and add oil in it. When it become hot then slowly, one by one place the medu vada in oil.
  11. Deep fry it on low flame when it becomes golden then change the side with the help of fry spoon or slotted spoon. When you use a slotted spoon you can easily remove the extra oil from vada.
  12. Put tissue in the dish and drain medu vada on it to remove extra oil.
  13. Your medu vada is ready to serve.
  14. You can eat this with sambar or coconut chutney.
